Three projects in detail
The challenge
A recently purchased apartment with an awkward layout inherited from a developer fit-out. The client wanted the space to feel like their own rather than a generic unit — but without a full structural renovation.
The approach
Reorientation of the living room layout, introduction of a custom joinery piece to define the dining zone, selection of a warm material palette using local timber and natural textiles, and a revised lighting scheme that reduced the harshness of the original ceiling downlights.
The outcome
Project delivered within 8 weeks. Client moved in without a snag list. The space reads as substantially different from the original unit while staying within a mid-range renovation budget. Client has since referred two colleagues.

The challenge
A small professional services firm had a complete design from an architect but no internal resource to manage the fit-out. Previous contractors had delivered inconsistently and the project had already experienced one significant delay.
The approach
Vael Atelier took over procurement and site supervision for the remaining works. A new contractor timeline was agreed with weekly milestone reviews. All materials were sourced against the original specification with direct supplier contact rather than through an intermediary.
The outcome
Office handed over 11 weeks after Vael Atelier's engagement. No further delays during the supervised phase. Final styling session completed before the firm's first client-facing use of the space.

The challenge
A family that had lived in their home for over a decade wanted to refresh the ground floor. There was no clear brief — just a sense that the space needed to evolve. Budget was defined but the scope was not.
The approach
The Vision Session was used to scope the project and identify what the family actually used versus what sat dormant. A revised brief led to a focused design engagement covering the kitchen dining zone and the family room — leaving the formal areas unchanged.
The outcome
Design phase completed in 7 weeks. Renovation completed by the family's own contractor using the Vael Atelier design book. Client reported that the scoping session alone saved them from spending on rooms they would not have used anyway.
